The Leisure Database Company are delighted to present the results of the fitness industry’s one comprehensive annual audit - the FIA 2007 State of the UK Fitness Industry report. The FIA is unique among country trade associations in publishing one set of figures that the industry can be united behind.
Clear Position of Industry for new Prime Minister
The figures provide a clear and positive representation of the industry and its opportunities particularly for the new Cabinet to understand quickly the opportunities our industry presents in addressing public health issues.
The results from the 5,714 fitness facilities across the public and private sector have become the benchmark figures for the industry, UK Government, the investor community and developers and suppliers.
Steady Growth across the Industry since 1st Jan 2006 and Impressive Growth in several Sectors
These are a good set of results across the industry showing growth on the 2006 figures for number of clubs, memberships and penetration rates. The report bears out what is understood in the industry, that certain sectors namely; the public sector, the whole industry in Northern Ireland, the North East, the South West, East and West Midlands and the top ten brand operators, are showing a strong performance.
Like for Like Membership Numbers
For the first time like for like membership numbers, for 2006 and 2007, are analysed across the public and private sectors and by region and home country. The level of analysis available has unlocked greater understanding of regional variations and sector strengths.
