Splashpath, the new free iphone application which encourages more people to swim more often by making new pool information readily available, is launched today. Working in partnership with The Leisure Database Company (TLDC), Splashpath opens up access to the comprehensive pool information, maintained by The Leisure Database Company, using the latest technology to simplify queries like ‘where and when can I swim?’ The free Splashpath application encourages swimming by simplifying consumer searches, providing appealing swimming challenges and achievement tracking programmes as well as enabling swimmers to communicate their swimming activities to friends via social media features.
Splashpath aims to increase swimming participation through its promotion of session and timetable information to consumers on both the web and iphone applications. For pool operators, the free Splashpath tools are an easy to use first step into this new media and will grow customer bases around the country. In under an hour, a pool operator can easily generate a great looking timetable, using Splashpath, and simultaneously load the timetable to their website and the Splashpath iphone app. Splashpath’s motivational and social features will enhance the fun, sociability and therefore the frequency of swimming. Competitions, challenges and easy to send invitations to friends will all be available on the free to download Splashpath application.
Working in partnership with The Leisure Database Company, there are already over 4,674 swimming pools listed on Splashpath, all of which are location-aware,simplifying the process for a potential customer to find their nearest pool and activity and then contacting a friend to organise a joint swim. Pool operators can take advantage of this latest iphone application and promote their timetable and swimming sessions by registering today at www.splashpath.com.
“Splashpath is an industry solution to increasing swimming participation. By embracing the increasingly popular consumer media of phone applications,Splashpath’s enables all participating operators to benefit from increasing the demand for swimming. Our aim is to unlock the huge potential demand for swimming - 12% of adults expressed a desire to do more swimming. This market potential can be directed simply and easily to their nearest, most convenient, or best marketed pool. GLL, Everyone Active, Leisure Connections and Aquaterra have all been early adopters of Splashpath”, commented Dan Morgan, creator of Splashpath. “Splashpath hits two of our key agendas with one idea. The timetabling tool enables us to provide one set of up to-date information to our customers which is published across multiple platforms. Adding mapping, participation tracking and social media features assists our push to increase swimming participation”, stated Andrew Clark, Swimming Development Manager, Greenwich Leisure Limited.
“Splashpath has initially been developed for swimming however we believe the technology can unlock significant demand for other physical activity sessions such as fitness membership, group exercise and other dry-side sports. We believe Splashpath will encourage active healthy lifestyles up-to, and beyond the 2012 Olympic Games – delivering a lasting Olympic legacy”, declared David Minton, Managing Director, The Leisure Database Company.
