Sport England has awarded a three year contract to The Leisure Database Company (TLDC) as part of its strategy to increase the number of people taking part in sport.
David Minton, Director of The Leisure Database Company said:
“We are delighted to have won this prestigious contract and that our hard work and attention to detail over the previous four years has been so beneficial to Sport England.”
The data collection and maintenance contract encompasses the delivery of sports facility and grass pitch data for 30,000 sites throughout England for Sport England’s Active Places website – a site where members of the public can see what sports facilities are available in their neighbourhoods.
During the last four years, TLDC has supplied data on 12 core sports facilities across 12,500 sites in England. These facilities are: Fitness gym, golf course and driving range, swimming pool, sports hall, indoor tennis courts, synthetic turf pitches, running track, indoor bowls, ski slope, ice rink, squash court, dance/aerobic studio.
The new contract continues the current provision but also adds grass pitch data for sports such as football, cricket and hockey across 17,500 sites.
Winning the new contract means TLDC is now the sole data provider for the Active Places initiative and confirms Sport England’s satisfaction with the service provided by TLDC to date.
Charles Johnston, Sport England Property Director said:
“Active Places is an essential part of Sport England’s work – helping people to participate in more sport. Having quality, reliable and up to date information on sports facilities in England means that we are in the best possible position to create sporting opportunities in every community.”
